Just quietly, we are very proud of our D&E Graduate Development Program. It has produced some of the best talent in the industry and shows no signs of slowing.

The goal is simple: to provide newly appointed engineers / graduates with an extensive overview of mechanical contracting, from site operations and engineering to estimating and project management, while building their working knowledge.

More specifically, the D&E Graduate Engineering Program provides candidates with a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the complete life cycle of projects, understand how our business operates in each stage, and develop the skills, knowledge and competencies required to excel in the HVAC industry.

As part of the D&E graduate engineering development program, you will work with some of Australia’s best engineering and on-site talent.

You will have access to a depth and breadth of experience and knowledge, ranging from design, estimating and engineering methods through to essential skills around teamwork, communication and client management.

At each critical stage you will be assigned to a senior manager who will also assist with mentoring, and gaining technical competencies in supervision, engineering practice (including planning, design, project management and risk assessment), along with an acute understanding of workplace and community safety, including OHSE legislation and quality systems.

Mechanical Design and Engineering

You will work with senior engineers on a range of projects to develop technical knowledge of mechanical systems in a range of applications, including commercial developments, large-scale accommodation, medical facilities, retail and data centres.

On-Site Installation and Commissioning

You will work with on-site installation teams as they install various types of HVAC mechanical equipment and with on-site commissioning teams as they test and bring online complete mechanical systems to ensure they meet specific design requirements and parameters.

This experience on-site with the D&E installation and commissioning teams provides graduate engineers the opportunity to see the mechanical systems they designed and viewed as drawings in real-world situations, (with real-world obstacles); which is valuable in understanding exactly what each site team requires at each stage to complete their works effectively and efficiently.

Estimating

You will work with senior estimators to understand financial allowances and the process of tendering for projects.  It is here that your experience in system design, understanding of installation and commissioning processes and durations on-site will help to hone your estimating skillset.

Project Management

Finally, you will work with project managers, clients and site teams to manage the delivery experience of various projects.  This includes procuring of equipment, organising labour and managing project finances.

The duration of this graduate development program varies and is tailored to suit the aptitude of each candidate; ensuring they gain enough knowledge, understanding and confidence within each stage of the project life cycle to enable the connection of how all areas integrate into one cohesive system.
